Heuristics, equity and solvers: what does the feedback prove?

A percentage or a recommended action needs a method and assumptions. Different tools answer different questions, even when their results appear on the same review screen.

A teaching rule measures agreement with a model

A heuristic is a simplified rule. Current PokerStick Career and Trainer feedback labels action-class agreement with a named teaching model; matching the rule is not a measured win rate or an independently validated skill rating. Exact bet sizing is separate from that action grade.

An unassessed decision is not perfect play. It means the available method does not assess that spot. Changing a later model should not rewrite the feedback originally saved with a hand.

Equity and a replay are different from action EV

Showdown equity depends on the cards, ranges and sampling or enumeration assumptions. It estimates a share at showdown. Future choices, fold equity and additional betting require more than that number.

A same-deck alternate continuation shows one simulated result. If it returns 8 BB more, you have observed a difference on one runout under the continuation model. You have not established an 8 BB gain in expected value.

A solve belongs to a specified tree

A solver result needs a supported game, stack, pot, ranges, board, legal sizes, rake model and accuracy measure. A nearby tree does not automatically give the EV of an unrepresented bet size or a different range. More decimal places do not remove model mismatch.

PokerStick’s owned solver work is currently a restricted river research prototype. Broad customer solving and a published solution library are not established by that prototype. Use the methods actually labeled in the current tool; do not infer GTO approval from a green score.

Try the reasoning

Choose an answer and write at least a short sentence before comparing with the explanation. This exercise stays in the page and does not save a score or assess your writing.

A better result on one deck

Fictional review exercise. You replay an alternate legal line on the same deck and receive 8 BB more than in the original hand. What have you established?
